Le Perle by Dragone is a breathtaking show produced by Franco Dragone, one of the most acclaimed creative directors in the world. The stunning performance includes a unique combination of acrobatics, dance, and theatrical effects that are unlike anything you’ve ever seen. One of the most impressive features of the show is the use of lasers to enhance the atmosphere and take the audience on a journey of light and sound making this a must-see when visiting Dubai.
Lasers have been used in entertainment for several decades, and they have become a popular feature in many modern shows and events. They are perfect for creating a futuristic, otherworldly atmosphere that captivates audiences and creates a sense of wonder and awe. At La Perle, lasers are used in a variety of ways to create a stunning and immersive experience.
Technology Used to Set the Stage
Laser projections were used for the production to create stunning visual effects that complement the performers and scenes on the stage. For example, lasers can be seen projecting onto the water to create a twinkling effect. This creates a magical effect that transports the audience further into the mind of Dragone.
Another scene used lasers to create a sense of drama and tension by highlighting a group of performers suspended in mid-air. This effect showed a striking contrast between the light and dark areas of the stage, not only guiding audiences where to look, but also adding to the sense of danger and excitement.
Dragone had long been planning to incorporate lasers into the show to add such effects to the production. To help bring these ideas to fruition, Steve Critchley was brought on to design and program the laser projections. With him, they included eight KVANT ClubMAX 6000 FB4 laser systems and one Atom 20 system, all programmed using Pangolin’s multimedia control software BEYOND. Using the BEYOND software, laser synchronization was used to match the beams with the rhythm and tempo of the music, creating a breathtaking audio-visual experience.
Combined with stunning lighting design, they turned to their long-time collaborators, and award-winning company TAIT. TAIT is a company that specializes in designing, building, and operating stages for concerts, events, and theatrical productions. Their team of designers and engineers has worked on many of the most famous stages like the Academy Awards, Olympics, and most recently Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime show.
Due to their expertise and long-time partnership, Tait was brought on to create an immersive and unique design that would also support complex aerobatics and aerial performances. To achieve this objective, TAIT provided the overhead rigging, scene pieces, and even the flooring the water rises about a foot above. The engineers even provided autonomous scenic boats called Waterbees that float in the pool and create an additional unique water lighting effect. This stage was even equipped with an automated system allowing it to move, rotate, and create new environments for the performers to interact with.
The design of the stage and lighting brought the brilliant mind of Franco Dragone to life and created a remarkable show that uses technology in a variety of creative and innovative ways to enhance the atmosphere and create a stunning visual and audio experience. From the laser beam effects adding drama to the rotating set, it’s clear that the team created a beautiful and impressive stage and, most importantly, an unforgettable experience for audiences. If you ever get the chance to see Le Perle, make sure you keep an eye out for the incredible laser effects that are sure to leave you spellbound.
