The Super Bowl Halftime Show is one of the most-watched live performances in the world, demanding the highest level of production, creativity, and highest-quality technology. For the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Usher, lasers played a key role in delivering an energetic visual spectacle. In a fitting throwback to his iconic song Yeah! music video feautirng Ludacris—where lasers were also a key visual element—Usher's Halftime Show brought back that same energy, this time on one of the biggest stages in the world.

Behind this laser performance was leading special effects company Pyrotecnico, working with their laser operator Jesser Parker to bring the show to life.

Laser Show Technology

Pyrotecnico, known for their expertise in pyrotechnics, lasers, and special effects, took on the challenge of designing a world-class laser show for Usher's Halftime performance. With a history of providing spectacular visuals for live events, their team ensured that every laser effect was perfectly timed and executed to enhance the energy of the show.

To achieve the dynamic visuals for the show, Pyrotecnico utilized BeamBrush 40 lasers, an advanced laser system known for its ability to adjust beam divergence in real time. This feature allowed for unique laser effects that added depth and movement to the performance, creating a more immersive experience across the entire field and stadium.

The entire laser fleet had Pangolin's FB4 control hardware integrated into them and powered by Pangolin's BEYOND software and integrated FB4 control hardware, a leading industry standard for laser show control. BEYOND enabled precise programming, synchronization, and live control, ensuring that every laser cue was executed flawlessly. The combination of powerful hardware and software allowed for a seamless integration of alsers into Usher's set, enhancing the overall production with vibrant, high-energy effects.
