Imagine Music Festival located at the Atlanta Motor Speedway was a huge success, especially considering it is only the third year of the festival taking place. The artists booked for the event were nothing short of amazing, featuring an all star lineup consisting of of DILLON FRANCIS, BENNY BENASSI, BOGORE, THE DISCO BISQUITS, EXCISION, GRAMATIK, NERO, SHOWTEK, STEVE ANGELLO, ZEDS DEAD, and many more. The festival featured six stages, carnival rides, circus acts, go-go dancers, creative decorations, giant LED screens, a massive function 1 sound system, with an incredible lighting display, and of course lots of amazing lasers. In addition, this annual event was moved to a new venue and added a third day, included camping for the first time.
Lasers were an integral part of the festival, and helped bring that "WOW' factor to the event. And the team at FullColorLasers.com (aka LASER ASSASSINS) operated the show, featuring 22 laser projectors across the festival scene, operated by only 4 technicians.
The main stage had an incredible display of KVANT SPECTRUM 20watt lasers, featuring Pangolin's new integrated FB4 network hardware, and all their revolutionary new Saturn optical scanning system (which allows designers to create incredibly wide arial laser projections, liquid skies, and beam effects). In addition a series of KVANT ClubMAX 6000 systems were used with Pangolin's PASS audience scanning hardware, for full-on audience scanning laser projections. This combination of lasers made for an incredible and immersive visual experience, where people could actually reach out, and touch the laser light as it surrounded them. In addition to the main laser show, two KVANT ClubMAX 3000's were used to project laser graphics and abstract effects, on water screens featured on both sides of the stage.
The entire laser display was controlled via ArtNet as well, which made setup incredibly quick and easy. A single ArtNet feed was run from FOH to the lasers, and then daisy chained across all projection systems. And the team at Full Color Lasers, is one of the first companies in the USA, to be running with this new technology.
This new way of setting up a laser show is made possible, thanks to the Pangolin FB4 network hardware featured inside of KVANT's laser systems. In such a setup, the FB4 hardware is actually integrated together with the lasers. Then, a single network or ArtNet feed is sent to "projector 1" and then is daisy chained across the other projectors at the event. And because each laser has it's own FB4 integrated, all units are independently controlled, allowing them to project different looks, at the same time.
The content for the Imagine Festival was designed entirely by the incredible artists at Full Color Lasers and created in the Pangolin BEYOND Advanced software, which allowed Full Color Lasers to easily sync the laser effects, with the other stage lighting and video effects taking place. Because BEYOND and FB4 support all major lighting industry protocols (including network, DMX, ArtNet, as well as SMPTE timecode, and OSC) it made combing lasers with these other multimedia effects very easy to do, while still offering a powerful suite of control and design options.
The LASER ASSASSINS absolutely destroyed the festival, utilizing the very latest in laser technology from Pangolin and KVANT. Their laser show was performing all three nights to live music by some of the hottest artist in the industry, and the crowd was in amazement, as they were fully immersed in amazing laser light, and stunning visual effects. The Imagine Music Festival had everything fans could hope for in music, production, and visuals. All senses were stimulated, for three days of magic and memories that will last a lifetime.
